Trimble, a company that designs and manufactures global positioning system (GPS) receivers, laser range finders, and unmanned aerial vehicles, among others, recently launched a patent-pending VerticalPoint RTK™ system for their agricultural grade controls. This can play a key role in reducing downtime and costly delays that are experienced by many agricultural land improvement contractors.
It should be noted that at present, VerticalPoint RTK™ in Australia as well as North America and it comes as an unlock on the TMX-2050™ and Trimble® FmX® integrated displays. The VerticalPoint RTK™ works excellently if combined with the Trimble FieldLevel™ II system, which is designed to streamline the designing, surveying, and leveling steps that are mandatory when it comes to land leveling projects. In addition to the abovementioned features, it also comes with two stationary supplemental rovers for dynamic and live data collection.
To add, in the event vertical accuracy inconsistencies take place, agriculture contractors need to wait to re-start leveling. This, until the vertical signal becomes accurate. In some cases, even rework portions of the field strategically leveled incorrectly just before signal inconsistency was discovered. VerticalPoint RTK can significantly reduce vertical design flaws in land forming as well as leveling projects, which take place from inconsistent vertical GPS signals that usually result from atmospheric interference.
All in all, with VerticalPoint RTK, contractors and other agriculture-based professionals can boost their overall uptime by up to 25 per cent. At present, the agricultural industry experience an uptime of about 75 per cent, but with the mentioned system, it can be increased by up to 95 per cent. To add, this increase can take place at basically any time of the year and even in the most challenging environments.
“Trimble is excited to launch a world-first technology that enhances vertical GPS accuracy, enabling agriculture contractors to better perform leveling or land forming operations,” said Josh Shuler, product manager for Trimble’s Agriculture Division. “Our new VerticalPoint RTK system can significantly reduce downtime leading to reduced expenses in labor and fuel while also increasing productivity.”
